Inspired by the landscapes and coastline of County Waterford, Rayleen Clancy presents intricate stained-glass works that transport the viewer into a hidden, dreamlike world inhabited by the Grúagach, a guardian spirit from Irish folklore, and other shapeshifting beings. These pieces invite us to explore a realm where nature and myth co-exist, offering a sense of mystery and wonder. Each is formed from layers of painted and kiln-fired glass, creating detailed imagery that evokes forests, shorelines and fantastical habitats.
Based in An Rinn, County Waterford, Rayleen Clancy is a multi-disciplinary artist working with stained glass, video, sculpture and installation. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has received an Arts Council Project Award for an immersive video and stained-glass installation at GOMA Gallery of Modern Art, Waterford in October.
